What We Believe at River of God Church

Throughout the Bible, rivers are spoken of as a perpetual emblem of fertility, freshness, abundance, and sufficiency of supply. The River of God Church is committed to being a releaser of life in God’s great Kingdom and for His glory.

Statement of Faith

The ministry of the River of God Church is built on seven central tenets of the Christian Faith. A clear understanding of what we believe about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and His Word explains our allegiance to the Savior, our dedication to the work of God’s kingdom, and our stand for absolute truth.

We BELIEVE the Bible to be the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We BELIEVE that there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We BELIEVE in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return to power and glory.

We BELIEVE that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We BELIEVE in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We BELIEVE in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Guiding Principles

Since the River of God Church’s purpose is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ and to develop believers toward Christian maturity, we look to God’s Word and His Spirit to guide us. There are three guiding principles that we recognize as unchanging.

1) The River of God Church belongs to God (Matt. 16:18). The origin and any increase in fruitfulness are from Him (1 Cor. 3:6-9).

2) The River of God Church is a releaser of life. This is not just a slogan but a ministry philosophy. As believers we need to be continually receiving from God and releasing life to others (John 7:37-39).

3) The River of God Church is committed to diversity of ministry, expressed in an atmosphere of freedom and trust. We recognize five dynamics that made the New Testament Church effective in changing the world:

River of Life: Experiencing the life-giving power of God (Acts 2:1-4).
River of Learning: Diligently learning to be a disciple (Acts 2:42).
River of Love: Fervently loving one another as the family of God (Acts 2:42).
River to the Least: Caring for the less fortunate with sincerity (Acts 2:45).
River to the Lost: Evangelizing the lost with joy and enthusiasm (Acts 2:47).
